The flat, thin plaque of oblong shape inscribed with Arabic verses within line borders, the translucent stone softly polished and of even pale greenish-white color
2½ in. (6.3 cm.) long

Lot Essay

The central inscription may be translated:
'What God wills. There is no power except in God. I seek the forgiveness of God.'
The remainder, 'In the name of God. The Compassionate, The Merciful.
Call upon 'Ali who causes wonders
You will find him helpful in misfortune
All anguish, all sorrow will disappear
Through your magnificence, Oh God!
Through your prophethood, O Muhammad!
Through your friendship (with God) Oh 'Ali, Oh 'Ali, Oh'Ali.
Also inscribed with a date that may read 1210, which would correspond to 1795-6.
