A Four-Case Lacquer Inro**
Edo period (19th century), signed Kakosai
Designed in gold and black takamaki-e with cranes and a long-tailed tortoise under a plum tree on a kinji ground, the stream next to the tree rendered in togidashi, the interior cases nashiji; fitted with a shakudo ojime carved with grasses, signed Bunkan to and a kagamibuta netsuke with a shakudo and gilt disc carved with Fukurokuju, set into a plain wood bowl, signed Seki Shigemitsu and with kao (cursive monogram)
