A Short Sword (Wakizashi) in Mounts (Koshirae)
Edo period (18th-19th century), signed Chikushu kanko Nobukuni Minamoto Yoshinao
Configuration of the blade shinogi-zukuri, iorimune, koshi-zori and chu-gissaki, the forging pattern ko-mokume, and the tempered edge gunome choji midare, the tip komaru and the tang ubu with one peg hole, the blade decorated with horimono of dragons chasing a pearl and a Buddhist ken
Koshirae comprising a brown-lacquer scabbard decorated with ribs and one side with impressed snowflakes and fitted with an iron kojiri and kurigata cast with swirling dragons and plum branches highlighted with gilt, iron dragon kozuka handle, blade signed Darani Katsukuni; the iron hilt, menuki and kashira cast in one piece and decorated with engraved and high-relief dragons in clouds with gilt details; copper fuchi with a shakudo and gilt dragon signed Yasuchika; iron mokko tsuba with gilt and silver dragons and peonies in sunken and low relief
