Indeed this only appearance, against Scotland in 1921 was towards the end of his ten-year spell with Tottenham Hotspur He joined Spurs from his local side Willenhall Swifts in April 1912 and played around 370 times for the club scoring 168 goals, including two in the F.A.Cup Semi-Final of 1921.
