Lot Essay

Edward Barnsley established his own workshop in 1923, and remained active as a designer until his death in 1987. Most of his furniture was commissioned by individuals and by companies, though smaller pieces were sold at exhibitions, and from 1950 through the Crafts Centre of Great Britain at Hay Hill, London.
