Lot Essay

The 'Leaf Hands' textile was designed by Salvador Dali circa 1949. It was produced by Schiffer Prints as part of their 'Stimulus Collection', intended 'to bring for the first time to the decorative textile field the fresh, forward-thinking viewpoints of top flight personalities in the related arts'. Remarkably, the Stimulus Collection gave carte blanche to the artists and designers they approached.
