The turned poles supported by stylised volute brackets with baluster urn terminals together, with one of the original shaped rectangular fixing boards

Probably supplied to Robert Chichester for Hall, Devon circa 1850.
Thence by descent until sold from Hall, Sotheby's Country House Sale, 11th November 1996, lot 119.

Lot Essay
The old house at Hall was replaced in the 1840's with a fine vernacular mansion designed for Robert Chichester by Philip C. Hardwick. These curtain poles were almost certainly supplied shortly after.
