AN ITALIAN GILTWOOD RELIQUARY CASKET,
PROPERTY FROM THE ESTATE OF TARA COLBURN TO BE SOLD FOR THE BENEFIT OF LOS ANGELES OPERA AND OTHER CHARITIES (Lots 379-409) My dear friends: Tara Colburn was a passionate music lover. The daughter of a concert pianist and the granddaughter of the director of the Conservatory of Zagreb, she was taken to her first opera as a small girl in Croatia. Her love affair with opera and indeed, all of the arts, never ended. As a founding board member of Los Angeles Opera, she remained one of the Company's most respected and enthusiastic supporters, and an exceptionally generous benefactor. Tara is greatly missed by so many admirers, and I consider myself so fortunate to have counted her as a cherished friend, gifted with a loving heart. Upon her passing, Tara left a substantial portion of her estate to Los Angeles Opera, an extraordinary and beautiful legacy that will enable us to share the gift of music for many years to come. Plácido Domingo General Director, Los Angeles Opera
