Crossbanded overall, the moulded rectangular hinged ratched top with green leather writing-surface above a frieze drawer and with a slide to the right side, on square tapering legs and block feet, with counter-sunk leather castors, the rachet replaced

Lot Essay

The squared feet, well chosen timber and simple elegant form with single-bead drawer surround compares to furniture supplied by Chippendale, notably for Dumfries House and Paxton House ( see C. Gilbert, The Life and Work of Thomas Chippendale, vol.II, New York, 1978, figs.396, 425, 460).
