Each with deep-buttoned red-striped cotton seat, above a convex-reeded frieze, on turned tapering reeded legs, brass caps and casters, each with attachment on seat-rails for joining the two stools, one seat-rail with remains of depository label, the casters stamped YATES & HAMPER

Lot Essay

The distinctive giltwood gadrooned seat-rail appears in similar form on a set of drawing-room seat-furniture, attributed to George Seddon, from Mersham-le-Hatch and sold by the Kantchbull Family, Christie's, London, 4 July 1991, lot 56.
