Only edition of Atwood's 'succinct account' of the island of Dominica (Sabin), written thirty years after the island was ceded to the British. Having spent several years in Dominica, Atwood's aim in writing this history was to promote the its importance as a key position from which the British could maintain sovereignty over the West Indies.
