Original blue cloth, paper label to spine lettered 'Henderson's/New South Wales &c' (some soiling to spine, extremitie rubbed).
A FINE COPY OF THE FIRST EDITION. The work is presented in two parts, each with a section title: 'Observations on the political economy of New South Wales and Van Dieman's Land' and 'Observations on the natural history, &c. of New South Wales and Van Dieman's Land.' Ferguson II, 1566.

Adlard for John Souter, 1822. 8° (227 x 142mm). 4pp. publisher's advertisements at rear. Folding engraved frontispiece after Evans. (Without the folding 'large chart of the island', old crease to frontispiece, some light soiling.) Original boards (rebacked). Provenance: Henry Davies (signature); Edward John Hadley (inscription dated 1887). FIRST EDITION of 'an excellent account of the geography, history and social conditions in Van Dieman's Land' (Wantrup).
