Goedkind after Pollen, several by G. Bos after photographs, printed by P. W. M. Trap, 2 maps, one folding. (Occasional very slight marginal browning.) Later half-calf gilt by R. H. First edition of the first part of 'a rare and important series' (Wood) on Madagascar. The series, comprising 5 volumes (of which volume 3 was never published) describes the island's mammals, birds, fish and insects; this first volume comprises Pollen's account of voyages, with attractive plates.
