BURTON, Richard Francis. Sind Revisited: with notices of The Anglo-Indian Army; Railroads; Past, Present, and Future, etc. London: Richard Bentley and Son, 1877.
2 volumes, 8° (207 x 148mm). Original grey-mauve cloth, gilt-lettered spines, upper covers panelled and decorated overall in black, lower covers in blind, (inner hinges cracked, traces of an early label on upper covers).
FIRST EDITION. Burton intended that this much updated text on India after the Mutiny be illustrated with a map and from photographs taken on his 1876 journey with Isabel. His publishers considered this an unnecessary expense and returned them to him just prior to issuing the sole edition of the work. Burton recorded the 1851 Scinde. Penzer p. 94-95. Casada 61.
