A RARE PAMPHLET. The text is much the same as appeared in the Preface to his 'Land of Midian' the previous year and contains the report from the Royal School of Mines in December 1878 of its examination of the samples shipped back to England. The gold seams, it concluded, had been worked out long ago. Burton redated his report and final note 'Shepheard's, Cairo, January 30, 1880.' Casada 56. Kirkpatrick 77.
