Half-title, part-titles, wood-engraved title vignette and illustrations, 12 lithographic plates by Dinkel and West, including frontispiece, and 5 anastatically-printed plates, one hand-coloured and one folding, errata slip and advertisement leaves, t.e.g. (occasional light marginal spots.) Original blue cloth decorated in blind, the upper cover gilt-stamped with vignette of a dodo, the lower cover with a solitaire (spine and edges faded, joints partially split). Strickland's and Melville's detailed account of the Dodo and extinct birds of Mauritius, Rodriguez and Bourbon. Anker 486; Wood 585; Zimmer p.606.
