FIRST EDITION. CARESSE'S SECOND BOOK, INSCRIBED TWICE TO HER LOVER LE COMTE DE CIVRY. The Crosbys had met le comte de Civry at the racetrack at Longchamps, and his advice and knowledge of racing was eagerly sought and followed by them; he was listed as one of Caresse's 'boy friends' by Harry in a letter to his mother in November 1927 (cf. G. Wolff Black Sun, p.220).
