The 'thermometer' comprises two enclosed tubes above a single large bulb. The bulb and the base of the tubes are painted black. When the bulb is grasped in the hand, or otherwise warmed, a clear liquid rises in the tubes floating a white and a green glass figure to the top of each. The card sleeve (distressed) bears a label with a picture of the toy, entitled Thermometer à la Profess. Slade with the instruction Warm the coloured Ball with the and [sic] then the Spectre will appear.
