A silver windmill-cup
Apparently unmarked, possibly The Netherlands, partly 17th Century and of later dates, struck with Dutch duty mark of 1859-1893 and Dutch export mark of 1853-1953
The bell-shaped cup on moulded rim engraved with scrolling foliage and fruits with cartouche depicting Ceres inscribed CERES, above two moulded mid-ribs, the upper part of the cup partly gadrooned and engraved with curves and lines on a matted ground, with three scroll brackets supporting a cylindrical brickwork upper part with above three scroll brackets, the windmill further with revolving sails and engraved sides roof, clock (hands missing), with blow pipe, stairs with a miller walking down and a miller standing in the doorway, marked on cup
