Lot Essay

This and lot 212 were printed under the direct supervision of the artist for her first retrospective at The Museum of Modern Art, New York, organized by John Szarkowski in 1966. To enable the show to travel, Lange produced two identical sets of prints. The duplicate set was deaccessioned by MoMA in 2002.
