Please note that further research by M. Lebel has shown that the arms on this service are those of Joseph de Pascal de Keranverger (1683-1762), awarded the Order of St. Louis in 1748 and enobled in 1750. The service should therefore be dated circa 1750 and not as stated in the catalogue.

Lot Essay

The arms are most likely to be those of Pascal de Keranverger of Brittany, who was awarded the Order of St. Louis in 1777 when he was a lieutenant in the Navy.
We are grateful to Antoine Lebel of Paris for helping us to identify these arms.
