A GRISAILLE AND GILT MYTHOLOGICAL PLATE
CIRCA 1745
Decorated en grisaille at the centre with Aurora in her chariot drawn by two winged horses amongst clouds, the well with gilt spearheads and the border with four 'valentine-pattern' cartouches of love-birds beside an altar alternating with hounds beside a garlanded tree

Louis Binder Collection was sold in these Rooms, 17 June 2003, lot 142. A plate with this same central design, with the arms of Humbertson and dated to circa 1745, is illustrated by D. S. Howard, Chinese Armorial Porcelain, London, 1974, p. 334.
