Lot Essay

The figures probably represent Flora and Zephyr, or possible Cupid and Psyche. A very similar teabowl and saucer from the Martin-Hurst Collection is illustrated by G. C. Williamson, The Book of Famille Rose, London, 1927, pl. XIX (top left).
