modelled as a nymph strewing flowers on Shakespeare's tomb, a putto at one side holding the trumpet of Fame, a hollow tree behind them forming a penholder, the inkstand formed as the garlanded tomb with three rectangular compartments holding two wells and a sander, inscribed with the playwright's name, all above a rock-moulded rectangular base -- 11½in.
