Circular, the kettle with scroll spout, cover and overhead swing handle, the hinged cover with wood baluster finial, the body engraved with strapwork; the stand with three scroll feet and detachable burner and cover, the body engraved with a coat-of-arms, the stand engraved with a crest, marked under kettle, and on stand, burner and cover, together with a silver plaque engraved with an inscription

By tradition, this kettle-on-stand is thought to have been owned by William Tryon, Governor of North Carolina (1765-71) and Governor of New York (1771-80).
