Lot Essay

Born in Rome in 1842, Tiratelli was trained at the Accademia de San Luca with the sculptors Adamo Tadolini and Pietro Tenerani and the painters Tommaso Minardi, Alessandro Capalti and Frencesco Podesti. His oeuvre is dedicated, in the most part, the depictions of the Roman campagna. He was the father and teacher of Cesare Tiratelli, also a landscape painter.
