A Dutch Delft blue and white biblical chinoiserie double-gourd ajour vase
1670-1680
Inspired by Transition-style examples, decorated with eight medallions depicting various scenes from the New Testament eg. the Birth of Christ, the Annunciation to the Virgin, the Flight into Egypt etc., further enhanced with elaborate flower branches and various insects, with three rows of pierced stylised flowers (the neck reduced, some damage to the ajour)
