A NORTH-WEST PERSIAN BRONZE AND IRON SWORD AND SCABBARD
EARLY FIRST MILLENNIUM B.C.
The hilt with winged pommel decorated with raised ridges and knobs, circular section grip incised with horizontal and zigzag lines, remains of the corroded iron blade within the scabbard, open at back with coiled spiral finial, 26¼ in. (66.5 cm.) long; two North-West Persian bronze swords, each with flared open 'ear' pommel and square-sectioned collared grip, one with incised and dotted decoration over the hilt, the long blades with ridged and flattened mid-ribs, 28¾ in. (73 cm.) long max; and a North-West Persian bronze spear butt, of tapering square-section and cylindrical shaft, 20½ in. (52 cm.) long, all early 1st millennium B.C. (4)
