FIVE BRONZE CHEEKPIECES FROM CHALCIDIAN TYPE HELMETS
CIRCA 5TH-4TH CENTURY B.C.
Comprising a cheekpiece decorated in repoussé with a bearded nude figure, wearing boots, seated on a rocky outcrop, holding a phiale out in his left hand, mounted, 4 7/8 in. (12.5 cm.) high; a cheekpiece of angular hinged form, with head of goat and finely incised details, slight restoration, 5 1/8 in. (13 cm.) high; two cheekpieces with rams' heads, each with curling horns, fragmentary, mounted, 4 3/8 in. (11.1 cm.) high max.; and a fragmentary angular cheekpiece with remains of incised locks of hair along the upper edge, multiple holes around the perimeter, repaired, 5¾ in. (14.6 cm.) long (5)
