SEVEN ROMAN BRONZE ALLOY REPOUSSÉ PLAQUES
2ND-3RD CENTURY A.D.
Comprising a male profile bust wearing cavalry parade helmet with eagle crest, engraved details, 4¾ in. (12.1 cm.) high; a cavalry parade helmet cheekpiece with standing Dioscurus holding a prancing horse, a spear in one hand, 4 in. (10.2 cm.) high; and five breastplate plaques, each decorated in relief with a profile bust of Mars wearing high crested helmet, with an eagle above and shield below, within rope border, one with dot-punched inscription, 7 7/8 in. (20 cm.) high max., fragmentary and with some repair (7)
