A PAIR OF EAST ROMAN GOLD AMPHORA EARRINGS
2ND-3RD CENTURY A.D.
Each earring composed of openwork amphora with beaded wire decoration, three volute handles and five rings from which hang pomegranate pendants, later hinged wire suspension loops, 2 in. (5 cm.) long; a single gold composite pendant composed of two discs with bead cluster, 1¾ in. (4.4 cm.) long; and a pair of jewellery elements composed of three conjoined cabochon cornelian ovals in gold box settings surrounded by beaded wire, ¾ in. (2 cm.) long av., both 2nd-3rd Century A.D. (5)
