A PAIR OF HELLENISTIC GOLD BULL-HEADED EARRINGS
CIRCA 3RD-1ST CENTURY B.C.
Each tapering twisted wire hoop terminating with a modelled bull's head, the collars ornamented with filigree and strung with spherical bead, ¾ in. (1.8 cm.) diam. max.; and a pair of East Roman gold earrings, the hollow hoops tapering at the ends with overlapping wire terminals, each with long pendants composed of openwork ring from which hang hollow cylinders made from spiral gold, with a smaller spiral cylinder below, 1st-3rd Century A.D., 2 in. (5 cm.) long (4)
