A VICTORIAN MAHOGANY FIVE-TIER REVOLVING BOOKSTAND
MID-19TH CENTURY
The upper tier centred by a later ball finial, each stage with groups of three spines of simulated books, each stage revolving independently, on a plinth with brass castors, the underside with printed depository label 'TAYLOR'S DEPOSITORY, PIMLICO. SANDERS NOV 1897 and two labels printed 'Guillebaud 18.4-28'

A pattern for a graduated five-tiered 'circular movable bookcase' standing on a table base, featured in R. Ackermann's The Repository of Arts in March, 1810, and corresponds to a bookcase sold at Phillips, Son & Neale, 15 May 1967, lot 1964.
