AN INCISED YELLOW-GLAZED 'DRAGON AND PHOENIX' DISH
YONGZHENG SIX-CHARACTER MARK WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1723-1735)

Finely potted and incised on the interior medallion with an ascending dragon and a descending phoenix encircling a central Shou symbol amidst cloud-scrolls, the exterior decorated with the Eight Buddhist Emblems supported on floral sprays, covered throughout with a rich yellow glaze, the base with a transparent glaze

A dish of this size and pattern in the Ohlmer Collection, Roemer Museum, Hildesheim, Germany, is illustrated in Chinesisches Porzellan, Mainz am Rhein, 1981, pl. 103; and a pair from the Paul and Helen Bernat Collection was sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong, 15 November 1988, lot 57.
