A RARE LARGE CARVED BAMBOO MOUNTAIN
QING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY

Well carved in high relief and in openwork from a large section of bamboo with a scholar and two servants descending the mountain along a steep winding pass lined with mature trees, encountering two fishermen with their catch crossing over a bridge arched across a flowing river with numerous boats and houses on stilts at one end, the reverse carved with a cliffside pavilion, above which is inscribed the title of the composition, Yu Jia Le, the patina of rich deep honey-brown tone
