QING DYNASTY, 17TH/18TH CENTURY

The miniature censer is well modelled with a squat bombé body decorated in low relief with two archaistic dragons with scrollwork bodies confronted on a 'flaming pearl', surmounted by a pair of upright rope-twist loop-handles on the mouth rim and raised on three truncated feet, with a Japanese gilt-metal cloud-design openwork cover
1 1/2 in. (3.8 cm.) diam., stand, box

Lot Essay

As a miniature of a larger vessel, this tiny tripod censer would most likely have been placed in a treasure box or miniature display cabinet with other small items.
