A Napoleon III ormolu-mounted white marble three-piece garniture
In the Louis XVI style, Third quarter 19th Century
Comprising a clock and a pair of eight-light candelabra: the clock surmounted by an urn with twin swan-form handles, the front with two ram's heads suspending a garland enclosing the enamelled dial with Roman and Arabic chapters and twin-train movement, the sides with volutes above allegorical symbols for Love and Music entwined with foliage, on flowerheaded tapering feet above a conforming plinth, the candelabra similarly decorated, with scrolling candlearms, leafy drip-pans and bobêches issuing from an urn with chandelles, the bases with oval plaques depicting Cupid and Venus
