Lot Essay

Cf. Robert Röntgen, The Book of Meissen, Exton, PA, 1984, p. 206, fig 320 for a krater vase with similar enamelled decoration, developed by Leuteritz in the mid-19th century in response to renewed interest in the Rennaisance style. Ernst August Leuteritz was employed as a designer and later as Director of the modelling department at Meissen from 1836-1886.
