ROY LICHTENSTEIN
PROPERTY OF THE PRUDENTIAL COLLECTION Christie's is pleased to offer a selection of works from the prestigious Prudential Foundation Art Collection in a series of sales of Post-War and Contemporary Art, Photography and Prints. Prudential has been a supporter of the arts since the 1970s and through the decades, they have put together a collection of staggering breadth and depth, including thousands of paintings, drawings, prints, photographs and sculpture. Mostly spanning the last 50 years, the eclectic collection is abstract and figurative, challenging and sensuous, reflecting the art of today as well as the best of the past. An integral part of the arts community, Prudential has been actively involved in supporting young and upcoming artists. It is an active and vital collection, with most of the works being displayed at various premises, creating an enriching and dynamic dialogue with employees and clients. In addition to contemporary artists, Prudential has also collected classic examples of Post-War art, including masterpieces by Joan Mitchell, Philip Guston and Larry Bell. Prudential remains committed to the arts and its role in life and in the workplace--they will only be selling a tiny fraction of works, retaining the lion's share for their collection.
