Lot Essay

The only close comparable piece to this most unusual tile is an unpublished hemispherical octagonal faceted ceramic boss where each of the eight segments is glazed in the same colours and glaze surface to those found here (formerly Madina Collection, New York and now in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art).
