The rectangular tile moulded under the glaze with a central cusped shouldered arch filled with palmettes, in a border of continuous kufic inscription between plain stripes, corner chipped, otherwise intact
9½ x 7¼in. (24 x 18cm.)

Lot Essay

The inscription around the side is difficult to read. It does include the word ghafar ([May God] forgive) which make it probable that this tile was intended as a tombstone.
