The deep manganese ground with a seven line white nasta'liq inscription, dated lower left, yellow and blue stripe border, areas of retouching, particularly to edges and upper left corner, mounted into plaster with painted wood frame

Lot Essay

The inscription, in Persian, is partly restored and not readable
It refers to the tomb of 'Sayyid Husayn' [also known as] Mir Jalal, as it appears in the verse where the date is also given in abjad as jannat maskan-e mir jalal "Paradise, the resident of Mir Jalal" = 987.
Dated 987/1579-80.
