Bettesworth (and others), 1737. 2 volumes bound in one, 4° (335 x 223mm). Engraved allegorical frontispiece by B. Picart, portrait of the author by Godfrey Kneller, 3 double-page engraved maps and 261 plates on 112 sheets (?only), many double-page or folding and including extensive panoramas of Moscow, Isphahan, Persepolis and Shiraz, engraved illustrations. (Some light mainly marginal spotting and browning.) Contemporary calf gilt (worn, partly disbound, spine split). Provenance: John Spencer (armorial bookplate). Cox I, p.251 (calling for 131 plates). Since all copies sold recently at auction have varying plate counts, this copy is sold not subject to return.
