Lot Essay

The artist became a master of the Antwerp Guild of Saint Luke in 1688 and was also active in Germany. He was clearly influenced by Jan Fyt (1611-1661) and his works are often confused with those of Adriaen de Gryeff (1670-1715).

Sold with a photostat of a certificate by Ellen Bernt, dated 30 March 1983.

We are grateful to Mr. Simon Fuks for his assistance in cataloguing this lot.
