The work of Evie Hone and Mainie Jellett is closely linked, not only through their lifelong friendship but also through their artistic training. In 1921 they went together to Paris to work in the studio of André Lhote, where they were introduced to Cubism, and the following year they became pupils of Albert Gleizes and both pursued pure abstract painting.
