Lot Essay

Brian Bourke was born in Dublin in 1936 and studied briefly in London at St Martin's School of Art, but is mainly a self-taught artist. He was chosen to represent Ireland at the Biennale of Paris in 1965. A similar view Knock-a-Lough, 1977, is in the Allied Irish Bank Collection of Modern Irish Art.
