COMPARATIVE LITERATURE:
Edward Pinto, unbridge and Scottish Souvenir Woodware, London, 1970.
A related hand decorated snuff box is illustrated (fig.36), and entitled 'The Jolly Beggars', made by Crawford of Cumnock. William Crawford was listed in a 1825 Commercial Dictionary of Scotland, under the sub-title 'Snuff-Box Makers'. Pinto also discusses the attribution of the discovery of the 'Laurencekirk' wooden hinge to William Crawford (page 75.).
