Lot Essay

This concert poster dates from an early period in Elvis Presley's career - at this point, he had just released his third Sun Records single You're A Heartbreaker/Milkcow Blues Boogie and had begun to build up a strong local following. National music publications were also starting to notice him. In late 1954, Elvis caught the attention of his first manager, Bob Neal and, under his auspices, at the end of 1954, that Elvis started to tour, appearing in Memphis, Tennessee, Texas, Alabama, Florida and Louisiana. Colonel Tom Parker had also taken an interest in Elvis around this time, and took over from Bob Neal as his manager at the beginning of 1956.
