Mark Tobey (1890-1976)
Property from the Estate of Sonja de Zorrilla Christie's is pleased to offer Sonja de Zorrilla's collection of Post-War Art this season. She was a socialite whose residences in Manhattan, London and in her native Iceland were glamorous gathering places for her friends including Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and John Loeb. The proceeds of this sale will benefit her foundation for needy children in Iceland and the United States. Her love of art led her to acquire works from the prestigious galleries of New York and London, as well as to pursue her own practice of portraiture.
