This work is registered in the archives of the Calder Foundation, New York, under application number A02471.

At some point in the 1970s, the base for Yellow Counterweight was erroneously switched with the base for a 1973 work entitled Pamplemousse after both works had left the artist's studio. The bases have recently been reunited with their correct tops under the supervision of the Calder Foundation.
